Interview with Daniela Papi-Thornton on Learning Service Abroad

danielapapithorntonlandscapeDaniela spent six years living in Cambodia where she founded PEPY, a youth leadership and education organization, and PEPY Tours, a development education travel company. PEPY Tours, which started as a “voluntourism” organization, is now a leading advocate in the shift from service to learning travel. Daniela frequently does workshops and presentations about this and other topics (including this TEDx talk). She has written for the BBC, Forbes.com, Ashoka’s #StartEmpathy campaign, and many others, as well as an ongoing blog on the Huffington Post and her blog, “Lessons I Learned”. She is currently co-authoring a book on Learning Service and helping to create a series of related videos and resources for travelers.  Daniela went on to Oxford to get her MBA through the Skoll Scholarship for Social Entrepreneurship and currently is based out of London.
