This open letter to an African-American mother hesitant to send her son abroad was written to address barriers to study abroad - Fear, Family and Finances. Many students face these barriers, but they pose a particular challenge for communities of color. The author faced all of these barriers (and more) when studying abroad, and here she talks to a concerned parent about her experience.
